Executive Chairman of the Board

Industry veteran Shaun McConnon is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Q1 Labs, where he brings extensive senior management experience in operations, sales, and marketing to the growing network security management company.

During his career, McConnon has guided technology ventures through the IPO process, and he has also orchestrated several successful mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Q1 Labs in November 2003, McConnon served as CEO of Okena, a next-generation security company, which he led from its inception to its acquisition by Cisco Systems. Previously, McConnon was CEO of Raptor Systems, where he steered that firewall security company through a successful IPO and then its subsequent sale to Axent Technologies (later acquired by Symantec). Earlier, McConnon held various executive positions with Sun Microsystems, most recently as managing director of Australian and New Zealand operations.

McConnon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Roanoke College.

Brendan Hannigan brings more than 20 years of industry experience to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Q1 Labs, where he is responsible for the company's overall day-to-day operations.

Hannigan joined Q1 Labs in November 2003 as vice president of marketing, and was promoted to executive vice president of marketing and product engineering in March 2004. He was later named COO in April 2006, and became president and COO in December 2007.

Prior to Q1 Labs, Hannigan was vice president of marketing and technology at Sockeye Networks. Previously, he was director of network research at Forrester Research, where he oversaw projects covering enterprise networks, security technology, and public network services. Earlier, Hannigan served in a variety of senior-level product development roles at Digital Equipment Corp., Wellfleet Communications, and Motorola.

He graduated with honors in Computer Science from University College, Dublin, Ireland.

Erich Baumgartner brings over 26 years of experience in his role as Vice President of Federal Sales. Piror to joining Q1 Labs, Baumgartner served as Vice President of Sales for Arxan Technologies, VP of Sales and Marketing for Ingrian Networks, Operations Director for Advanced Technology Security Sales at Cisco Systems and Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development at OKENA, Inc. He has also held executive-level sales positions at Axent Technologies, Raptor Systems and Sun Microsystems.

At Q1 Labs, Mr. Baumgartner oversees all federal customer, partner and integrator business and provides expertise in proven go-to-market sales methods and successful team building strategies for high-value technology companies. Mr. Baumgartner's background also extends to marketing with experience managing whole-client-acquisition-lifecycles, from conception to qualification.

Mr. Baumgartner holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Maryland at College Park.

Sandy Bird is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Q1 Labs, where he is responsible for the company's strategic technology direction.

Bird has extensive technology experience specializing in database design and development for web applications. Prior to Q1 Labs, he held a variety of technical positions at the University of New Brunswick in support, development, and administration.

Bird studied Electrical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick.


Aaron Breen

As Vice President of Support Services, Aaron Breen is responsible for all Customer Support and Services  in our global TAC group. He brings over 10 years of IT support across various hardware, software and related technologies.

Mr Breen joined the company in 2007 as Director of Support and was responsible for the day to day operation of the technical support group. Prior to Q1 Labs, Aaron was Manager of Global IPTV support for both Alcatel-Lucent and Imagictv which included the global IPTV TAC group for several platforms and account/escalation management


John Burnham

As Vice President of Corporate Marketing, John Burnham has senior management responsibility at Q1 Labs for all of the company's strategic branding, positioning, corporate communications, media, and analyst relations initiatives, and for helping to create and deliver the firm's core messages to the network security management market and beyond.

He joined the company in July 2008, and has more than 20 years of extensive technology marketing, branding, and communications experience gained at various established networking firms and start-ups alike, including: Brix Networks, Juniper/Unisphere, Motorola/C-Port, Bay Networks/New Oak Communications, and Cabletron Systems, among others.

Burnham earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati.


Brian Cohen

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO of Q1 Labs, Brian Cohen is responsible for finance, accounting, HR, facilities and legal functions.  He brings more than 30 years of financial and operational leadership to the company including CFO roles in both public and private companies. 

Cohen has helped build and guide companies from their early stages through significant growth periods, and he has handled several M&A transactions and negotiated significant technology partnership arrangements.  Mr. Cohen has experience in international operations, venture capital financings, and the processes, systems and controls necessary in publically traded companies.

Most recently, he served as chief financial officer of Segway Inc. where he played a major role in managing the company's growth. Cohen's experience includes CFO of WebLine Communications Corporation and CFO of publicly traded Telebit Corporation, which were both acquired by Cisco Systems.  He has also held leadership positions at other rapidly growing technology companies.  Cohen commenced his career with Price Waterhouse.

Cohen is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor of science in accounting from the State University of New York at Oswego.

With extensive experience in a variety of senior management leadership positions, including those of founder, Chief Architect, and Vice President, Chris Fanjoy brings wide-ranging expertise in software and product development gained at several entrepreneurial ventures to his role as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Quality Assurance at Q1 Labs. He was promoted to his current position in August 2009.

Fanjoy joined the company as Vice President of Engineering in April 2003 from Kinek Technologies, where he served as Vice President of Field Services. Previously, Fanjoy was the co-founder and CTO at NetIgnite, which was acquired by Webb Interactive Services. Earlier, he was the founder and chief architect of MapQuest.com, one of the world's most recognized and trusted brands and the leader in online, voice, and wireless mapping and driving direction systems.

Fanjoy earned a Bachelor of Computer Science from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Jon Fraleigh has 25 years of experience in sales management, sales, and engineering gained at a variety of fast-growing technology companies, both private and publicly held, that he brings to his position as Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Q1 Labs.

He joined the company in November 2007 following stints as VP of sales at Rivulet Communications and Bocada. Previously, Fraleigh spent seven years at F5 Networks, where he led the Americas sales team, guiding it through eight sequential quarters of 35 percent growth, to a peak of more than $25 million per quarter.

Fraleigh is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Computer Engineering, and is the holder of two patents.

As Vice President of Business Development, Gary Ochs is primarily responsible for managing and nurturing the relationships and growing the revenue streams between Q1 Labs and its major strategic partners, including Juniper and Enterasys.

He joined the company in May 2004 as a regional sales manager in Chicago, and was promoted to director of business development in November 2006 to oversee the company's key partner relationships. Ochs was promoted to his current position in July 2009.

Prior to Q1 Labs, Ochs worked at ArcSight and Symantec. Earlier in his 20-year career he held various sales positions at Kana Communications, New Oak/Bay Networks, Raptor Systems, and Wellfleet/Bay Networks.

Ochs earned a BSBA from Roosevelt University and he earlier served with the U.S. Navy.


Chris Poulin

Chris Poulin brings a balance of management experience and technical skills encompassing his 25 years in IT, information security, and software development to his role as Chief Security Officer at Q1 Labs.

As a key member of the company's Security Council, Poulin is responsible for the continual evolution of the QRadar family of solutions to keep pace with emerging security threats, customer needs, and industry trends, as well as evangelizing QRadar to strategic partners and customers.

Prior to joining Q1 Labs in July 2009, Poulin spent eight years in the U.S. Air Force managing global intelligence networks and developing software. He left the Department of Defense to leverage his leadership and technical skills to found and build FireTower, Inc., a successful information security consulting practice, with clients that included Cisco Systems, National Geographic, Radio Shack, Symantec, Time-Warner, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and the U.S. House of Representatives.


Tom Turner

As Senior Vice President of Marketing and Channels, Tom Turner is responsible for all product management efforts, demand-generation programs, and channel marketing initiatives at Q1 Labs. He was promoted to his current position in August 2009.

Turner has extensive security industry experience, and has helped build and grow category-defining companies. Prior to joining Q1 Labs as vice president of marketing in May 2005, he served as director of marketing for endpoint security at Cisco Systems, where he helped elevate the company to the number two position in the host-based, IDS/IDP market.

Previously, Turner was Vice President of Marketing at Okena, Inc., where he and Q1 Labs' CEO Shaun McConnon pioneered the intrusion prevention market and led the company to its successful acquisition by Cisco. Earlier, Turner managed the marketing and database security product strategy for BrainTree Security Software which was acquired by PentaSafe (now NetIQ).

Turner holds a Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, United Kingdom.
